pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 26 orang lansia yang
dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan

ABSTRACT
Background: Hypertension is one of the leading causes of premature death in the world,
with a prevalence that continues to increase, including in Indonesia. One of the risk
factors that affects hypertension is stress, especially in the elderly group (elderly) who
are vulnerable to changes in psychological conditions.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the effect of stress management on
hypertension rates in the elderly at the Mandalika Elderly Social Service Center.
Method: This study used a descriptive analytical method with a cross-sectional
approach. The research sample consisted of 26 elderly people selected based on
purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through the DASS-42
questionnaire (stress section) to assess stress levels and blood pressure measurements
using a digital tensiometer.
Results: The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents had stress
management in the normal category (61.5%) and most showed blood pressure that was
classified as grade 1 and 2 hypertension. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test
showed that there was no significant influence between stress management and the
incidence of hypertension.
Conclusion: Good stress management can play a role in reducing the risk of
hypertension in the elderly. Therefore, intervention and education on stress management
need to be improved in efforts to prevent and control hypertension in the elderly
population.
