Meningkatnya prevalensi P. aeruginosa resisten obat
mendorong pencarian agen antibakteri alternatif, salah satunya dari tanaman herbal.
Camellia sinensis (teh hijau) diketahui mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti
beberapa bakteri patogen, termasuk P. aeruginosa.
post test only with control group design.

ABSTRACT
Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that
frequently causes nosocomial infections, particularly in immunocompromised
patients. The increasing prevalence of drug-resistant P. aeruginosa has prompted
the search for alternative antibacterial agents, including those derived from plants.
Camellia sinensis (green tea) is known to contain bioactive compounds such as
flavonoids, phenolics, and saponins, which possess antibacterial potential. Previous
studies have shown that ethanolic extracts of green tea exhibit antimicrobial activity
against various pathogenic bacteria, including P. aeruginosa. To more specifically
identify the active compounds involved, fractionation was carried out using
chloroform as the solvent.
Objetive: To analyze the antibacterial activity of the chloroform fraction of green
tea leaves (Camellia sinensis L.) against clinical isolates of Pseudomonas
aeruginosa.
Methods: This experimental study used a post-test only with control group design.
Antibacterial activity was assessed after administration of C. sinensis chloroform
fractions at concentrations of 12.5 mg/ml, 50 mg/ml, 100 mg/ml, and 200 mg/ml,
alongside a positive control (Aztreonam) and a negative control (DMSO). The
antibacterial test was conducted in five replicates, and activity was measured by the
diameter of the inhibition zones. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS
with the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Dunn's test to determine the significance
of any differences.
Results: The inhibition zones for the chloroform fractions were 0 (0?35.67) mm at
12.5 mg/ml, 4.75 (3?25.33) mm at 50 mg/ml, 6.25 (0?15) mm at 100 mg/ml, and 8
(4?15) mm at 200 mg/ml. Statistical analysis showed that there was significant
antibacterial activity in the 50 mg/ml (p = 0.039) and 200 mg/ml (p = 0.023) groups.
Conclusions: The chloroform fraction of C. sinensis exhibits antibacterial activity
against P. aeruginosa, but the effect is not statistically significant.
