periode 2021?2023.
Metode: Penelitian analitik korelatif dengan desain cross-sectional berbasis rekam
medis pada periode 2021?2023. Sampel diambil secara consecutive sampling
hingga memenuhi kriteria inklusi sehingga diperoleh 101 subjek. Analisis univariat

ABSTRACT
The Relationship Between a History of Hypertension and the Incidence of
Preeclampsia in Pregnant Women at the Regional General Hospital of West
Nusa Tenggara Province in 2021?2023

Background: Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication that contributes
substantially to maternal morbidity and mortality. A history of pre-pregnancy
hypertension is often considered a risk factor; however, evidence in local
populations remains inconsistent.
Objective: To assess the relationship between a history of hypertension and the
incidence of preeclampsia among pregnant women at the West Nusa Tenggara
Provincial General Hospital during the 2021?2023 period.
Methods: This comparative analytic study employed a cross-sectional design using
medical record data from 2021 to 2023. Samples were collected through
consecutive sampling according to inclusion criteria, yielding a total of 101
subjects. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed, and the association
between variables was tested using the Chi-square test with a significance level of
? = 0.05.
Results: Of the 101 subjects, 88 (87.1%) experienced preeclampsia and 13 (12.9%)
did not. Among women with a history of hypertension (n = 31), 24 developed
preeclampsia; meanwhile, 64 of the 70 women without a history of hypertension
also developed preeclampsia. Bivariate analysis indicated that there was no
significant relationship between a history of hypertension and the incidence of
preeclampsia (p = 0.052).
Conclusion: This study found no significant association between pre-pregnancy
hypertension and the occurrence of preeclampsia. These findings should be
interpreted cautiously due to limitations such as the retrospective design, imbalance
in sample distribution, and potential misclassification of pre-pregnancy
hypertension status. Future prospective studies with larger sample sizes and more
complete documentation of control variables are recommended.
