berbeda signifikan antara prediksi software dan hasil percobaan dengan nilai pvalue > 0,05 dan dengan nilai pH yakni 7,94?0,01 ; viskositas 17.560?1.096 cP ;

ABSTRACT
Brown seaweed (Sargassum sp.) contains phenolic compounds that have the
potential to act as a sunscreen agent with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value of
33.2 at an extract concentration of 1.6%. Sargassum sp. is formulated into a cream
preparation to facilitate use and prolong contact with the skin, using emulsifiers to
combine the oil and water phases. The aim of this research is to determine the
optimal concentration of the cream preparation with a combination of carbomer 934
emulsifier and cetyl alcohol based on its physical properties. The research
procedure includes the process of making simplisia, extraction using the maceration
method with 96% ethanol solvent, identification of phenolic compounds, and
optimization of the formula using the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method.
Response parameters observed include viscosity, spreading ability, adhesion, and
pH. Data analysis was performed using Design Expert software and verified using
the One Sample t-test method. The research results obtained the yield of simplisia
and extract of Sargassum sp. of 15.78% and 7.37% respectively, with the extract
positively containing phenolic compounds. The optimum concentrations of the
emulsifier carbomer 934 and cetyl alcohol were found to be 0.5% and 2.0%
respectively. The cream formulation from the optimum formula has good physical
properties with a soft semisolid texture, homogeneous, with a light green color, and
with a cream type of oil in water. Verification of the formula showed no significant
difference between the software prediction and the experimental results with a pvalue > 0.05 and a pH value of 7.94?0.01; viscosity 17,560?1.096 cP; adhesion
2.40?0.17 seconds, and spreadability 5.08?0.07 cm. The optimum formula obtained
has met good physical characteristics and has the potential to be used as a sunscreen
cream preparation.
